Fields of work
BioConsult SH is divided into four divisions: 'Onshore', 'Offshore', 'Marine Ecology' and 'Digital Aerial Surveys'.
Our core expertise and experience are in the use of a variety of methods of ecological research and monitoring. Accordingly, all four divisions are involved with environmental planning in the narrow sense (environmental impact studies and intervention assessments).
Moreover BioConsult SH is often involved in research projects (classic ecological or application-related) and development projects (development and implementation of protection concepts) in cooperation with other institutes or conducts them independently.
The 'HiDef - Digital Aerial Survey' division arranges digital aerial surveys (for marine mammals or birds) and subsequently the data is assessed by our ‘Review Team’ (locating the animals) and ’ID Team’ (species identification, especially for sea birds).
The ‘Onshore’ division currently mainly compiles faunistic studies and species protection assessments for wind energy projects in Schleswig-Holstein and also other Federal States. In addition, the fields of work 'Wildlife Biology', 'Agriculture and Nature Conservation', as well as 'Data Management' belong to this division.
Wildlife Biology is typically feeding into faunistic studies for environmental impact assessments for road construction and other infrastructure projects. The field of work ‘Agriculture and Nature Conservation’ extends to the design of conservation and development concepts and their implementation. In the context of ‘Database Management’ we administrate, analyse and publish bird monitoring data especially for the Wadden Sea.
