Agriculture and conservation
In the past 10 years we conducted numerous projects in this subject area. In Schleswig-Holstein and in EU projects (Interreg IIb) all aspects of wetland and grassland protection as well as eco-tourism were covered – from surveys of habitats, breeding birds, resting birds and other species groups through the design of development and conservation concepts up to the implementation of these concepts in cooperation with farmers and other local stakeholders.
Germany-wide conservation issues, concerning land consolidation procedures in the federal states and with regards to the potential of ecological farming, were treated in collaboration with nature conservation organizations, environmental and agricultural administration and farmers.
Within the framework of the evaluation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), possible effects of recent changes in the cross-compliance regulations on biodiversity of grassland habitats are investigated. In this context the inventory of species in differently treated areas (mulch, mown grass and fallow land) is analyzed.
