Data management

For more than 20 years all the data on resting birds in Lower Saxony is managed in one central database by the order of the state-owned ornithological institute. Analysis programs for this database were developed and allow the administration to extract data, evaluate certain sub-areas or the entire region with respect to ecological features, distribution maps as well as to phenology and trends. Within the framework of the trilateral cooperation in the Wadden Sea and in cooperation with the Wadden Sea Office all this data on resting birds is analyzed and published in thematic reports on distribution, phenology, trends as well as underlying causes. Commissioned work in the form of data management and trend analyses is carried out for the globally acting organization “Wetlands International - International Waterbird Census“.
