Webinar "Detecting and Monitoring Marine Megafauna from Space"

SPACEWHALE team member Julika Voß has presented the service in a webinar of the Decade Collaborative Center for the NE Pacific. In her presentation, she explains the method and provides an insight into already completed projects.

SPACEWHALE is a BioConsult SH service providing AI-based detection of large whales in very high-resolution satellite imagery. The method allows monitoring remote and unexplored regions in the high seas, where traditional boat or aerial-based surveys are difficult to execute or even impossible.

The video recording can be downloaded here: Detecting and Monitoring Marine Megafauna from Space: Exploring Opportunities in the Northeast Pacific | Ocean Decade North East Pacific | Tula Foundation

The presentation about SPACEWHALE starts at 25:33.
