Norgaardholz pleasure pier

BioConsult SH prepared the nature conservation documentation for a new seaside pleasure pier in Norgaardholz on the Flensburg Fjord.

The site of the new pier is located within the Natura 2000 site “Coastal areas of the Flensburg Fjord from Flensburg to Geltinger Birk” as well as the Special Protected Area “Flensburg Fjord”. Therefore, the construction had to be assessed for compatibility with the conservation objectives of the protected areas.

It was also determined whether the project complies with legal requirements for the protection of species and biotopes, the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD).

Impacts on nature were recorded and compensated for via eco-account in nature conservation area “Bewaldete Düne bei Noer”.

The new pleasure pier replaces a mobile bridge structure that was erected annually for the bathing season and then dismantled again.
