The SMM2024 Biennial Conference on the biology of marine mammals in Perth, Western Australia, brings together some of the world's leading marine mammal scientists. Over 1,300 participants from 80 countries are expected to attend. This is a great opportunity to network with others in this field of science.
We'll be bringing some of our daily work with us to share at the conference.
- Maria Gädecke and Jessica Harvey from our partner company HiDef will be presenting our method for digital aerial surveys of marine birds and mammals. "Detection and identification of marine mammals using ultra-high-resolution digital video footage".
- Armin Rose presents a study on acoustic monitoring of harbour porpoises. "Increasing detection rates of harbour porpoises (Phocoena phocoena) revealed by PAM from 2010 to 2021 in the Pomeranian Bay, Baltic Sea".
- Caroline Höschle will present SPACEWHALE, a method for satellite-based whale monitoring.
"Utilizing Very High-Resolution satellite imagery to survey whales in remote areas and inform and improve conservation endeavours".
We look forward to discussing the latest research and new methods to better understand the lives of marine mammals.
