The medium-sized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are suited to carry 30 kg payload and will be equipped with a HiDef camera rig to carry out ecological research and monitoring missions across Europe, building up on BioConsult SH’s experience of more than ten years in digital aerial surveys.
On behalf of RWE, BioConsult SH is working in the SeaMe project to develop innovative technologies for sustainable ecosystem monitoring of offshore wind farms. Therefore, BioConsult SH will test the potential of the UAVs for digital aerial surveys in the German North Sea.
BioConsult SH is already using drones to collect data for a variety of purposes on land and in coastal areas.
“The new UAVs will start a new phase of aerial surveying and reflect our commitment to enhance ecological research, support conservation efforts, and contribute to carbon reduction by enabling more efficient, low-impact monitoring methods,” said Georg Nehls, CEO of BioConsult SH.
