Husum,

The jury of Zurich Insurance's Planet Hero Award 2024 has nominated our SPACEWHALE service in the category Ocean and Water Protection.

We were among the top three nominees out of 100 applications. Additional nominees with great projects were also nominated in the categories of climate protection and biodiversity.

With SPACEWHALE, we can record large whales over a wide area with the help of very high-resolution satellite images (30cm/px). This allows us to work in areas that we were previously unable to reach using conventional survey methods (ship or aircraft).

We congratulate the winning teams and all the other nominees.  Even though we were not able to take home the first prize in the end, the nomination is a great motivation for us. We will continue to work on projects with SPACEWHALE and thus provide crucial data for active ocean protection.
